Why I Started Writing a Diary

Starting today, I’ve decided to record my past activities, what I’m currently working on, and the thoughts that pass through my mind each day—by writing a diary.

There are several reasons why I felt this was necessary.

The Age of AI and “My Own Words”

In recent years, AI has spread rapidly, and opportunities to write in one’s own words have decreased more than ever. Before I realized it, I found myself relying on AI more and more as well.

In a way, this also means that the world is becoming filled with similar-sounding texts.

That’s exactly why I feel that genuine human voices—raw, unfiltered words—will become increasingly valuable.
What was a man in his early forties doing and thinking around the year 2026?
I have a feeling that simply leaving behind that record may one day become an asset.

What I Gained from Social Media — and What It Drained

From 2022 through the first half of 2025, I put a great deal of energy into social media platforms such as Instagram and X. To be honest, though, I also feel a certain level of exhaustion.

Social media is addictive. When you’re deep into it, you can end up scrolling all day without realizing it.

That said, the time and energy I invested brought more returns than I ever expected.
Through selling NFT art, I developed skills in self-promotion and sales. Through digital communities, I met people who have since become important collaborators and friends. These experiences now form the core of my work.

On the other hand, while social media delivers explosive speed and momentum, it also consumes energy just as intensely. Sustaining it requires a great deal of stamina.
Posts on X or Instagram are driven by freshness—over time, they sink into the timeline and quietly lose their value.

Turning a Diary into an Asset (A Living Portfolio)

In contrast, this diary—an old form of media—doesn’t get swept away by the waves unique to social platforms. I can write at my own pace and continue to preserve my own worldview.

At times, it may even function as a portfolio or a business tool—almost like an extension of myself.

If reading this has sparked even a small sense of curiosity about who I am, I hope you’ll take a look at my portfolio site to see what kind of work I do.

And if you feel like connecting, please don’t hesitate to send me a message. I’d be happy to hear from you.
